First gaming/editing rig. Any recommended changes?

cpu: amd fx-8150

heatsync: corsair h80i

motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3

ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB)

blu ray drive: Pioneer Electronics USA Blu Ray Combo Drive

In total its going to be around $930 and i want to keep it under $1000 if possible.

Seriosly? an AMD 8350 is like $10 more than the 8150 and is one generation higher. Get that one, it's 8 cores will help you when rendering :)

the 7950 is about $100 more than the 7850.. I would go for that.. so if it's okay with $1040 instead of 930 then you'll get a beast :D

When it comes to it NVidia is going to be better for rendering. Its not terribly much more for the equivilant AMD/ATI Card but there deffinately is a difference. If you could switch to a 660 or higher (Anything from nvidia is going to be better) your render times will massively jump. Its because of the fact that more editing programs take advantage of the CUDA Architecture. (Adobe and Sony Vegas are two major ones)

Do you know if i have to update my bois for this motherboard to run the 8350 or do you know of a motherboard that is out of the box ready for the 8350? I mean thats the only reason that i dont get the 8350 i   dont want to get it and then the bois is not compatible.

Do you really need that much hard drive space? Because you could always save a little money by getting a smaller hard drive and then put that extra money into a better graphics card. You should really be getting the FX-8350 too. The 8150 isn't worth buying.

I would suggest at least getting a GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870 too. Nvidia is going to be better for editing, but they are a bit more expensive.

The only problem that i have with the 8350 is that i dont know if the bios that comes with the motherboard is not compatible with the 8350. If you know of a motherboard that is compatible out of the box or how to update the bios let me know.

Its really just a google search away. Its worth going with the 660ti/660 if you can spare the money.

Thank you i am going to use the EVGA GeForce GTX 660 instead of the XFX AMD Radeon HD 7850.

Render speeds will be worlds better :D

get a fx 8320 and a gtx 660 ti or a radeon 7870

you have a great build there but i think you may want to go with the 7870 crossfire if you have the extra money. if not i would definately go with this build if i was given $1000

I would go with two 7870 but its just out of my price range.

if it ran the 8150, it will run the 8350. 990fx runs fx-prosses out of the bawks

crossfire is not for a new build. you might as well get a better gpu
