Hey this is my first computer build that I am doing. What I will be using the computer for is to mostly play video games and video editing, also for school so like Microsoft office. So, if you guys could, I would like some opinions on my build/parts I choose. Plus any advice you may be able to give to a new member of the community and to building a computer. My components are as followed:
Cpu: Intel i7 - 3770k 3.5 GHz quad core
Cpu Cooler: NZXT Kraken x60 98.3 CFM liquid cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-GD65 ATX LGA1155
Memory: Kingston hyperX beast 16GB (2 xGB)
Storage:
1.) Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
2.) Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" SSD
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7970 3GB Video Card
Case: NZXT Phantom 820 (black) ATX Full Tower Case
Power Supply: NZXT HALE 90 850W 80 plus gold certified
Optical Drive: Asus BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS blu-ray/DVD/CD writer
That xfx is just fine (coming from an msi fanboy), let me try to make something but it seems perfect, but let me inform you about the new phantom 630 which basically kills the 820 in every aspect.
EDIT: couldn't build better, http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/crafted_series/phantom_630 this case doe.
As in if i had your budget, aside from your case (i'd buy the 800D/650D or ), maybe a cheaper PSU (link), and a custom loop (because $140 for a clc is pointless when i can drop another $60 and get something infinately better). Also it's important to note that the 680 is better than the 7970 (sadface) and you can snag one for about $20 more than the Double D.
This is what i'd build (no gpu water block, just a triple rad, fans, pump, tubing, fittings, cpu block, res ~$300)
