Hi Everyone,
I am building my first PC after having a Dell Dimension 8200 for the past 13 years. Yeah - I know - I am a procrastinator - but it has served me flawlessly all this time, with some upgrades along the way. Anyhow - I wanted to share my parts list with you and get some suggestions on my first ever build.
Cooler Master Storm Stryker ATX Full Tower White
Intel i7 - 4930K 3.4GHz 6-Core
Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid Cooler
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Superclocked 03G-P4-2884-KR
Western Digital Black Series 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Corsair HX850W ATX12V / EPS12V
Windows 7 Pro
I need help on choosing a motherboard. My initial pick was the ASUS X79 Deluxe. I have done alot of reading and ASUS customer service seems to be terrible, horrible in fact, which is scaring me away from them. It doesn't seem Gigabyte is any better. I am stuck trying to decide which way to go, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I do want the ability to OC. Something else I will learn in time. I found Tek Syndicate on Youtube and am glad to be part of it now.
It's all up to you. Choose the motherboard that fits your build.(color, size, etc) But one thing to look out for is coil whine. Coil whine is a high pitched electical noise that some motherboards make. My advise is to read comments about the boards. Sry for bad english:P
ROG boards are a good choise, both good and reliable;)
Ya Asus is notorious for bad customer support. I've never had problems with any of there products (and I've had 3 laptops, a tablet and a ac wifi adapter from Asus) but if I did, I'd probably try returning with Amazon instead of Asus... If you want some alternatives then the AsRock extreme 6 or extreme 11 are awesome boards. The extreme 11 has a 24+2 vrm which is just insanely good. The extreme 6 has a 12+2 which is also amazing. The other big differences are that the extreme 11 has a shit ton of sata and it has lots more usb connectors.
Not really answering your question, but you may want to look into a SSD as well. 120 or 240GB should be just fine. I suggest the Samsung 840 Evo, Crucial M500, Adata SP900/SX900, and Kingston HyperX 3K
