get a 650w psu, a 1tb hdd, and a 7870. then you can stream w/o dropping frames

I won't be streaming

If you can push for a 7870, that would be great as it delivers performance to drive most games at maxed settings at 1080p, but the 7850 is one of the best values around. Also, which motherboard are you using. Nothing wrong with the 970 chipset, but would be nice to know if you're getting a reliable board.

Unless you plan on Crossfire, you can take the PSU down to 600w, or 500w if you don't plan to OC.

But thank you

I do want to OC and I'm open for better motherboards. I'll try to go for the 7870.

Then you could drop to a 600w PSU to shave off a few bucks.

As for the motherboard, I'm assuming the budget is a little strained since you're going 970. If you can afford it, I'd go for the ASUS M5A97 R2, though the MSI 970A-G46 seems like a solid cheaper alternative. I'm not sure if you already picked one of those boards since you specify which board you had planned.

As for the power supply, I'd choose from these.

My build is around $1,000. I would like to get a solid motherboard that could handle oc and even sli

If you want to OC and have Crossfire (SLI is nvidia specific), then you were on the right track with the 750w PSU. As for the motherboard, the two I pointed can do 2-way Crossfire, but SLI you would need a 990FX motherboard. If that is the case you can't go wrong with Gigabyte's UD3

Thank you
