First Build Questions

Hey guys new to the site. I was wondering if this selection of parts would work?I plan on playing minecraft, dayz, some AAA games like titanfall/COD/BF4, civilization, and any other games. I would be buying them all from new egg. I will provide links (plus the CPU/Motherboard are in a combo right now).  My range is from $500-620USD (at most, also includes shipping). I am getting Win7 from a friend and already have a mouse, keyboard, monitor, speakers. Thanks. Feel free to also put a build you think would work better.

meets your budget, is a more powerful setup... I'd REALLY like to add in a cheap SSD... but it's just not doable at this budget without severe hardware downgrades...  I've not had good experiences with Gigabyte AM3+ mobos... I will say, there's some other people here that will tell you differently, so take it with a grain of salt from my personal issues with them, but I whole-heartedly refuse to recommend them...

Thanks for the reply, If you dont mind please tell me your experiences with the gigabyte am3+ mobos. The build you gave me is a little out of my target price range, but ill look into it. Also i was wondering if my build would fit my gaming needs. I dont plan on OC or playing Crysis on ultra 1440p, but i was looking at something that i could use to play the games i listed between med-high at a reasonable fps. (im coming from consoles and a very old laptop). Also if i went with the build i provided is it some what future proof? Like would be able to upgrade to a better gpu in like 2-3 years? Thanks

this has better R9280 GPU - better Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 mobo - and better 1866Mhz CL8 ram ... case has three fans and good air flow and a much better than stock CPU cooler $602 shipped

edit ... yes you will be able to upgrade GPU in the future

Where are you getting the $602 price? Im getting $665.02

wierd ... I see

Base Total: $697.90
Promo Discounts: -$22.89
Mail-in Rebates: -$80.00
Shipping: $7.88
Total: $602.89

oh ok, also another question how long would the $22.89 mail-in rebates take usually, 1week 2 weeks?

I have had good luck and bad luck  ... I freakin hate mail in rebates ... scammers hoping you are lazy IMO

and sorry it is  .... Mail-in Rebates: -$80.00

I can try and do a build with fewer mail ins and try to stay on budget ... check back tomorrow and I will post when I am not so tipsy

Lol mail in rebates are so random.  I've had some come in in only a month's time, while I've had a $5 MIR come in over a year later...

ok thanks

Change the PSU, it was $40 off yesterday... I'd buy all the GPU you can afford... it's the most expensive part of a gaming build... no sense in wasting a bunch of money in hopes of wasting a bunch more money later...

As for Gigabyte AM3+ mobos I had to RMA 3 back and the 4th one fried a CPU... I hear they've fixed all the VRM problems in Rev4 but I can't in good conscience recommend it...

Nothing at the $600 range is somewhat future proof... but you can build decent computers at that price range that get the job done... the cheapest GPU I'd pay money for is the R9 280

This is as close as I can get and still keep the performance ... and I am not that crazy about the AMD version of this mobo ... but your budget requirements forced us out of the Asus.
