First build, quad usage

I have no idea how to add the part picker.
To make things easier around here just include some extra info so we can tailor you better.
•Budget. How much are you willing to spend?
Upto $1500
•Where do you live (what country, don't post specific details), and what currency do you use?
The you-saw (USA), beef currency, well USDA but with out the A
•Is there a retailer you prefer?
Nope, as long as they have good prices and dont test on animals =D.
•Do you need or already have peripherals? (this can add to costs)
No idea what this is, honesty right? But now I know. Mechanical, not sure whoch ones, I gotta watch the types again, as for the mouse no idea,
•What will you be using your Glorious computer for? Gaming? Rendering? Mix of both? Or is this a home media PC or Steam Box?
Mix of the four, game, render, home and some steam
•Do you overclock or want to get into overclocking?
All in do time, but i'm a person to want it when I need it. What if I master the OC book in 5 minutes, then I need to buy a higher tier product?
•Do you plan on going for custom water-cooling now, or in the future?
Hmm, maybe in the future, With higher power comes uhh more fluid less air (shrugs and laughs)
•Operating System. Do you need a new one?
Yas, thinking between Windows and Linux, (que thinking theme)

The second 970 is better for OC, plus it has higher mhz out the box (gameing edition), for the psu, ive read both sides ( what to do what to do).

Hmm looks like the black series from WD is made for gaming and editing, 2tb for 121.99

So far this is what i've been looking at, still need to look at cases (any ideas?), plus any input would be of great help.

A bit to know facts.
This will be for light to mid gaming 2/10, video editing 8/10, BUT once I start to game on it i'm sure the console with rest for a while.
First build too.

(Shaw-sha-sha)

Would you mind shortening this, perhaps some research? Extreme cancer to read.

But from what I can see you are trying to build a 1.5k USD build for gaming and video editing.

I tossed this together: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/b2f7jX

That should do just fine for what you are trying to do on it. You can overclock it, it can push 90% of all games to high settings at 60FPS or more, it will handle rendering and video editing just fine, you have enough leeway in the budget to get a 4790K or more HDDs.

Seriously though, utter cancer to read...

The CPU cheaper on newegg,

I'm sure it is but would I need a CPU cooler right right now? The chip comes with one already yes?

That gigabyte looks cool, unique features sound pretty rad.

For the pus, eh I liked the EVGA's,
For the SSD why the Samsung Pro over the Samsung EVO?

The CPU price is a non-factor, when you purchase you just purchase whereever you want to.

The CPU cooler is not 100% needed but because it is a K chip, which means you can overclock, I highly recommend one. It will be quieter and run much cooler even when you use it heavily, which is a god send when you have your rig running a lot.

The mobo is fairly standard, just a better one.

The PSU that I put in the list is by Seasonic, a very good company known for reliable PSUs. EVGA makes good PSUs and are pretty reliable, but Seasonic beats them out a little. Seasonic makes server PSUs after all.

I grabbed a Pro over the EVO because it was cheaper? No real reason. I'm not exactly a speed demon.

Please do your reseach.

Cont. (because it posted while trying to copy/paste) ((damned tab).
HDD cheaper on newegg,
Your thoughts on the gpu picked, red and black, vs the one you picked, black and white one

And yes I know, "go buy whatever you want" =D just adding to the convoy =].
Opinions, thoughts and options galore.

I am, that's why I'm asking you questions.

For the CPU, the i5-4690K is a damn good choice.
Both Mobos listed look competent.
I, personally, don't care much about the choice of RAM modules as long as it is listed by the manufacture as compatible with the MoBo in question.
Also personally, I find Noctua products overrated and prefer either Scythe or Thermalright (if available at an interesting price!), but you can't really go wrong with the NH-D15 if money is not a problem.
If you do rendering, consider an M.2 PCIe like the Samsung SM 951 (and a MoBo compatible). Since having SSDs I stopped being picky about HDD, except for reliability.
Seasonic is always a good call when it comes to PSUs.
The H440 looks great, but I favour good ventilation so I wouldn't go with it. I'd choose a Fractal Design or a Silverstone instead.

You might wanna maybe consider a r9 390 instead of a gtx 970 depending on how cheap you can find the cards.
Just in case someone wants to lament about the 970 being much better.

If I was you I would go X99 because you very well can afford it within your budget. It will give you great performance in both video editing and gaming as well. Anyways if you have any questions and/or concerns feel free to ask.

The Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hNGqnQ

I really liked the extra features on the gigabyte, being able to monitor speed, temp etc. A M.2 would be hella sweet, but probably down the road some. If I pulled from a bag I wonder if I would pull out a SeSonic or a EVGA =D. Case be a case be a case, I'm buggy about wiring so I liked the Phanteks @LinuxForYou picked out.

A cheaper card that works just as good if not better\right around the same from the one I chose? Why would I not (keeps investigating)

I was thinking x99, it was the first mobo I looked at, but with it being for the i7 I looked into the i7, decided the price for use right now wouldn't be worth it. That case does look sweet though. I do see you also named the R9, hmm
