My friend will be helping build my first PC and I would like some input on parts from you guys:
Budget. How much are you willing to spend? I would say between $700-$1000 (maaaybe $1200 but that's kind of ripping my pockets lol)
Where do you live (what country), and what currency do you use? I live in the U.S
-Is there a retailer you prefer? Doesn't matter. Looking for the best deals actually.
Do you need or already have peripherals? (this can add to costs): Will need keyboard and mouse since I only have a laptop.
What will you be using your future computer for? Gaming? Rendering? Mix of both? Or is this a home media PC? I will be using it for Video editing/rendering and Gaming
Do you overclock or want to get into overclocking? I want to get into overclocking.
Do you plan on going for custom watercooling now, or in the future? Most likely now because I want to overclock. Either watercooling or a really good air fan
OS. Do you need a new one? no
I know a fair amount about PC's but I'm not an expert or anything. My friend knows more than I do.
If you Game-
What kind of settings do you like or what FPS do you want to play at? At high FPS
What resolution will you be playing at? //or would like to play at? 1080p and possibly in the future 1440p
What kind of games do you like to play? FPS, horror games, ect
What specific game will you be playing (if you only really play one) not sure possibly games like BF4 and newer games
If you Render or Edit things-
I use Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop all CS6
this is what I have so far haha: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2Zsry
I know it isnt alot, but I am still debating if I should go with AMD or Intel so either AMD FX-8350 or Intel i7 4770k. My friend has the 8350 and likes it so far but hasn't tried overclocking and is still using the stock fan. Not sure which one would be best for video editing and gaming. Im open to either since im not a fanboy or anything.
Something like Pistol's amd workstation for streaming, gaming and editing would be cool (idk if i would be streaming tho).
You're needs and budget were tough to accommodate. This should do though. The CPU is not the 8350 rather the 8320 which is for the most part the same as the 8350 except for the clock speeds. But since you plan on overclocking you can overclock it to 8350 speeds. But that cooler should really be upgraded before any massive overclocks are done the hyper 212 is good for minor overclocks the h100i would be a good choice. The video card will excel in 1080p gaming you will be able to max out almost every game on a 1080p monitor and i hear you can play on a 1440p monitor but the graphics would have to be greatly reduced on more intensive games. I changed the Hard drive to 1tb because the budget could only fit 1tb. The ram was brought down to 8gb because again the budget could not take 16gb. I would have changed the motherboard to the evo but they are the same price so i just stuck with this one which is good because it is better at overclocking. The power supply is a quality one and will tackle these parts no problem with room to upgrade just no sli, you need 750w for that at least that's what a majority of people say. The case is one of the best for the price imo. And windows 8.1 because you can not transfer the os from you're laptop. and a monitor, really good monitor for gaming i have a older model of it and i love it. Their you go i think this will suit you're needs just fine.
honestly, I can push the budget to $1200 haha. the 8350 sounds like a beast so I do want that or if the intel i7 4770 is better? but that would push the cost even higher since it costs more but whatever. Also disregard windows 8 haha
The Intel 4770k is better and if you have the money then get it but if you don't then don't lose sleep over it. The performance you gain is not worth that steep price increase again if you live near a micro center then the 4770k is 250$ i think, but the 8320 is 99$ so just go for the 8320 and get a better Graphics Card. That's my thinking i love my 8320 handles streaming and video rendering well.
apparently I do live close to a micro center my friend just told me about it. Yeah I know Logan has said that going with the AMD 8350 isn't bad at all. I should take out windows os out of the picture for now...
Also, I dont plan to overclock like crazy, I was just thinking like up to 4.4ghz with the 8350
thanks. Would you go for a gtx 780 or r9 280x? I've read that cuda benefits with adobe premiere, is that true? hopefully more people can give an input on this
The time you would have to wait would be really hard to predicted and the R9 290 (the R9 280x is more on par with the 770) is very similar to the 780 their may be 5 frames gained on some games on either card i would just go for the 780. And if you are playing on a 1080p monitor the 770 will do fine but if you want every single detail maxed out with high framerates the 780 is you're best bet.
yeah that is true. I was reading that nvidia will come out with the maxwell architecture soon, but not sure when they will come out with a gtx 800 series.
Now idk if i should lean towards a amd 8350/780 combo or i7-4770k/780 combo haha
thanks for your input! this is getting good haha. well as you can see now I'm leaning for the gtx 780, I think I will stick with the 8350 as well...I can disregard windows for now.
