This is what I have so far. Would love to have your opinions on the part choices so far and options for cooler and PSU. Wanting to order parts tonight. PC will be used for pretty much only gaming.

that is a bad mobo. get the m5a99fx pro r2.0. it's about the same price, I think.
gigabyte cards are not very good... msi, sapphire, asus, and his all ahve ggod amd cards.
hyper 212 evo cooler
this psu: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cx500m
I added that cooler/PSU and changed to the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card. The mobo you mentioned ive only been able to find for around 150. Are there any other good ones that come to mind? Im not sure what im looking for. I do want to overclock though.
There is nothing wrong with that combination FX6300 + Asus M5A97 R2.0 mobo. good combo ☺ and ofc overclockable, unless you plan to go with an 8core FX8320/8350, in that case yeah i would recommend a 990FX chipset boards like the M5A99Fx pro R2.0. But with the FX6300 95W tdp cpu, and a single gpu, you will be fine with the Asus M5A97 R2.0 (4+2 powerphase digi vrm)
grtz Angel ☺
6300 is as high as I can go on the CPU. So great I'm ready to order. Just out of curiosity what makes the mobo I have bad for the 8 core?
So you make a statement about the motherboard and then say "I think" sounds like you really know what your talking about..... Thats a fine motherboard.
Explain why gigabyte cards "Aren't good" I have heard nothing wrong with them, most are voltage unlocked and are reasonably priced with good components.... If anything XFX cards aren't very good as the cheap ones are voltage locked and have mediocre cooling.
The hyper 212 cooler is ok, but here is a cheaper one with nearly the same cooling potential.

This power supply is a tad more money however is slightly higher wattage (Its also true wattage unlike some PSUs, True wattage meaning your actually getting 550w) and it has better parts than the corsair. Its always good to get a nice PSU.
well its not realy bad for an 8 core, but an 8 core uses more power, on stock speeds it should work, but if you plan to overclock, the M5A97 R2.0 power delivery is just not good enough for that only 4+2 powerphases everything northbridge chip vrm´s and chokes and the phases will run to hot. for a good overclocking its better to pickup a board with a better powerphase design like an sabertooth with 8+2 powerphases or an M5A99Fx pro R2.0 with 6+2 powerphases. those boards are more sollid for 8 cores.
the motherboard should work fine with the FX-6300 (it's a six core processor)
if you plan to upgrade later to an 8 core processor like the FX-8350, you should get a 990fx motherboard.
from what i've read on the forums the AMD 970/SB950 chipset does not work well with the 8 core processor's from amd. it could work but you'll need a bios update, still i'd get a motherboard with 990fx chipset.
This is for $400, but good luck!
