Hey Tek Syndicate forum users,
I'm fairly new here, but I do have some experience with computers. I have a question. This is my first build, and, while I have repaired computers never built one from the ground up. My question is, I've been thinking about a budget. I've decide around $400-500. My main goal is something that I can play some games, at 720p, decent 30fps. If I get an older set of hardware, (I've been thinking about going with an Intel i7 920 or i7 950 Socket LGA 1366.) Or, getting a somewhat decent newer platform (Athlon II x2 270 AM3+). Should I get a more expensive, newer platform, or just get older hardware and get the good shit? P.S. I'm looking on eBay for a cheaper price on the i7's.
500 with or without the OS
With. I have a 500gb Hiatachi 2.5 inch drive with Windows 7.
are you ordering from the US? or where are you living, because i could definitely help you out :)
and so ou wouldn't need a hdd with this because you already have one?
Nope. I've got that down already.
okay, ill build something on pcpartspicker, one sec...
Thanks. I'm coming over from console, and I really think PC gaming is for me. I used to game on PC and I loved it more than any console. Execept PS2. It will always have a place in my heart.
awesome! and yah, PS2 really did have a place in my heart too, haha. so many great games
Yeah, I'm kind of an Ace Combat junkie.

lol, resident evil 4 FTW! So here's a pc w/o the hard drive, you will be able to game on at LEAST 720 with max settings in almost every game if im not mistaken. and you should just go with the "older but good shit" because later down the road you could even upgrade to a 1155 socket i7 or even just an i5-3570k, because it's great for gaming! http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1tvfQ
But which one should I do? :C
lol lunar u forgot dvd drive :3
AMD has WAY more upgrade-ability with their sockets
Also you could also mix our builds toghether and do my build with a 7870 and a HAF 912 idk
So, later I could get like an 8350 or something?
so in olviers build you would have a 7770 which would be able to do some "light" gaming on 720p, and a 6 core cpu which would be great for if you wanted to edit and render videos. the build i did is highly upgradable and you can play modern games at 1080p, even more than what you wanted! im just trying to help :P and im not sure if you'll need a cd drive because you said that you have a hdd with windows 7 on it and everyone uses usb drives and stuff...
Well thanks everyone. I really appreciate all the help.
