Thanks for pointing that out, can you recommend a motherboard to use instead? I'm thinking the Asus Crosshair V Formula 990FX, since Intel won't work with AMD
Karloskar what is the main purpose for your system, gaming? If so we can save you quite a large sum of money by trimming the bits you do not need to have a proper gaming rig.
Yes this is going to almost entirely for gaming. The list is mostly a just an initial draft, I don't intend to build the thing until late next year. If you can suggest a cheaper or better alternatives then I would be grateful 'cause as it is now I'm looking at close to 2500$ build (PC parts are pricey where I live).
CPU: That 8 core is a proper processor but for gaming it is 4 cores too many that will sit idle, a FX6300 is the 6 core version which is quite a bit cheaper and for gaming you will only have 2 core idleing.
Motherboard: one like this will do : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514
Ram: I take it you recently saw Logan drooling all over the beast ram?lol It is proper fast ram but ultimately in gaming it is not needed, DDR3-1600 is plenty.
CPU Cooler: I personally have never heard of this cooler, but the Havik 140 or the H80 would take its place. Both are well proven in reliability and in performance, and probably cheaper too.
PSU: 850 watt is massive and far more then your system will ever need, a quality AX750 will do the job plenty and give you tons of leg room for future upgrades. Heck you can even squeeze by with a 650watt quality power supply as well depending on what your goals are.
I really do not like changing folks systems comlete as it sometimes causes them to lose interest in system building, you can get the parts you have written down if you want except that motherboard(Z77 is a intel board) and you would be fine.
This is exactly the kind of instructions I needed, I'm going to take your advice on the CPU, Motherboard and PSU, I'm going to get 16 gig ram what I'm wondering is should I do it in 2 cards (8+8) or 4 cards (4+4+4+4)?
You always want less GPU's, if you can get a single high end gpu vs two low end in crossfire or sli. Games can sometimes have issues with multi gpu configurations which can be a pain to troubleshoot, always shoot for a single GPU configuration.
It is a proper high end card, you always have room to add another in the future if you want. Or if you have the fund a 7990 or even a GTX690 would be top tier stuff. It really depends on your budget.
As far as I can tell the 7990 isn't available in my country and the GTX690 is way out of my budget. Should I do two 8 gig ram or 4 4 gig ram, is it the same principal of fewer is better?
Less is better in my opinion, less things to go wrong and from what i have read the more you load up the ram slots the harder it becomes to OC the ram(although i never personally experienced that). I would use 2x8gb, that way i still ahve two empty slots incase later i want to add more ram to my system.
Hey man i hear you saying about 16gb of RAM, but you dont really need that for gaming at all, 8GB is enough and anything overmthat its just blowing money, other than that i would agree with john about the CPU, if possible i would get an i5 because its 4 cores which is all you need and they are a little more stable than others and alot more future proof. the cpu isent something you wanna cheap out on since it can really make or break a system, what is your country btw?
Yeah thats a good way too go, and you could also just grab a 2500k if its cheaper to save some because you dont really need a 3570k if your just gaming. i know how it feels for everything to be more expencive haha, over here in the uk its way more expencive to buy parts than over in the usa :)
Well, I personally prefer Intel over Amd, because of their processors have lower temperatures overall. I prefer an intel i7 3770k. That's my personal favorite :).
Case, mobo, and ram doesnt really matter what company they come from. Those are up to you. As long they are highly rated and at a reasonable price, i dont see why not.
the cooler for the cpu, i never actually heard of. i would just stick with a hyper 212 evo. Cheap and works well considering its an air cooler.
Power supply, well you dont really need that much power. 700 watts would probably do you good, UNLESS you are considering upgrading into more power hungry parts in the future. If not i would suggest going with 700 watts. Make sure ur power supply has the required cables for your graphics card b4 you buy it. Such as a power supply with two 6+2 pin power connectors doesnt go with a gpu that needs a 4+2 pin power connector. So make sure you know ur parts b4 u buy them.
Like darren97 said dont get an intel mobo with an amd cpu. i prefer getting this one
Heres the link for it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130637
I wouldn't be saving that much by going for the 2500k so I'm just gonna go for the 3570k and about the RAM Since 8 gigs is enough I'm wondering between the G.Skill Ripjaw x (2*4) and the Geil Evo Leggera (2*4). Take any pc component and double the price in the US then you roughly got the pricing over here
That Motherboard doesn't seem to be readily available in my country. Thanks for the heads up on the power supply I'll have that in mind when finalizing the build
