First Build, How is it?

Okay so I have watched a bunch of videos on low budget builds and I have come up with this build. I would mainly like to know if all these parts will work in terms of compatibility but I also want to know if any of them will be bottlenecking eachother. Here's my part's list:

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+
Cpu: AMD Phenom II X4 965 black edition
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750w 80 plus bronze Semi-modular
GPU: HIS IceQ Radeon 7870 GHz edition 2gb
RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 8gb (2x4gb) 1600mhz
Case: RoseWill Blackhawk ATX Mid-tower
Storage: Kingston HyperX 3k 120gb

budget?

For the mobo, in my pc I have the Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3, it's only 70$ compared to 145$ and i'm very satisfied with it. I have the same cpu and i'm very satisfied with it also. You don't need 750w of power so you can save money there. For storage trust me if you're going to have some games 120GB is not enough. I have a 500GB hard drive with windows and my games on and it took 300GB of space.

My budget is up to i would say 900 but the lower the better.

The reason I picked this mobo is because it has onboard USB 3.0 which I want because the case I chose has USB 3.0. As for the storage, I have a 1tb HDD that I'm going to throw in along with the SSD.

Oh well if your budget is 900$ then i would recommend the AMD FX-6300 for the cpu http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=76934&vpn=FD6300WMHKBOX&manufacture=AMD&promoid=1033

and a heatsync for the cpu to do some overclock and reduce the noise

and maybe some led just to make your pc look awesome

If I get the FX-6300, will there be any Bottlenecking whatsoever?

nope you'll be able to play any game you want no lag

I updated the build witth everything you suggested: http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/vWE0

There is a good build, if you can swing 900 dollars, you could fit a 7970 in there. ( http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/vWHP )

The 6300 is a really good processor and extremely overclockable. If you don`t like the case, you can do something like the 200r or a the Zalman Z11.

Yeah that's a pretty good build.

the air cooller here will kill the h6o. so i moved some stuff around and got alittle bit over 900 but you could always buy heatsink later and use the stock for a bit. and with this you end up with a a 7970. also i would like to talk you out of getting a Gigibyte UD MB because of v-drop. they have a known isue and i would avoid them.

here it is with out the cooler http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/vWOK

then after rebates come back buy a cooler.

What is the v-drop?

I was going to modify your build a little bit, but I really, really like Akira's build as long as you're not planning on doing Crossfire sometime down the road.

I am open to any motherboard as long as it has:

  • -A black or black/blue colour layout
  • USB 3.0 header onboard
  • At least 6 USB ports on the back
  • 2x USB 2.0 headers onboard

V drop is when you set the cpu voltage in the bios and cpu-z reads diffrent than what you set. it's bad for overclocking.

if you want to buy everything for $900 out the door http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/vXVA

Akira, I took majority of the things you gave me, and landed RIGHT on the $900 mark. :D http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/vYtP

i like it. do u have a dvd rom? i didn't ask before i just figured you did and I'm glad you changed the case because the Zalman 11 dosn't have usb 3.0.On that note for just $20 you can get a Fractal Design
Define R4

yea i have a dvd rom
