So a bit of a back up story to this heading. I have always gotten my Brother-in- law to build my PC's for me over the years. However my son is now old enough to start becoming a Gamer, I gave him one of my old pc's.
Now this rig is old ( using XP for an OS) I cant even remember what its spec's are. However it does work just not to well. So I promised I would build him a new PC and its a budget build. So much so that we are buying the parts over a fews months (To the disappointment of my son).
So this is what we have gotten so far;
CPU= Intel i5 3570k
MOBO= Asus P8Z777 V-LX Intel Z77 1155
RAM= G.Skill-NT 8GB (4Gx2)DDR3 1600
Graphic= Asus AMD Radeon HD 6870 ( This was donated by the Brother-in-law and will be upgraded later in the year)
CASE= Thermaltake Commander MS 3 Black
Parts still to get=
HDD= Seagate 3.5 Barracuda 500GB
PSU= Thermaltake TR2 600 watt 80+ bronze
OS= win 7
Now my question is, is the PSU good enough for this build or am I able to go down in watts remembering that I will be upgrading Graphics. Also is an OS only useable once, Am I able to use my WIN 7 that was used and installed on my current rig several years ago.
Last but not lest, after this build I will then have to build one for my daughter. I have been looking at the $350 build done by Logan with the AMD set up posted back in NOV & DEC.
I just need this to be cleared up for me. AMD CPU (AMD A10-5800K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor) which has a intergrated graphics means I dont need to get a seperate graphic card. She will only be playing minecraft and surfing net and school work.
Any thoughts and suggestions would be great- just remember tho I am australian so any parts and prices may not match up.
Could probably go down to a 500/550Watt to save some cash but allowing a moderate upgrade in the future.
It depends what windows licence you have, if your still using the Windows 7 installation on a PC you wont be able to authenticate a new installation on a different PC until the other PC has been formatted (did this to me when i tried to have 2 vista os's installed). There are ways round it but i dont know them :) (if you have a disk). Im not sure what you do if you just have a Key (OEM).
Yeah your right, you will not need a seperate graphics card with an intergrated graphics CPU. Although the intergrated graphics will require the use of system RAM to carry out graphical work so you may have to add some more RAM to the build to compensate.
If you have an OEM installation on the Old PC which you will be throwing away, or uninstalling Windows 7 from, you can use the key to install to a new computer using an OEM installation disc. I don't know the legalities of this, but you will need an OEM Disc to make the CD Key work.
EDIT: Vice-versa, if you have a retail key and bought the Windows 7 installation from a retail store, you will need a retail disc to install.
GigabusterEXE mate I am Australian therefore that means I live in Australia. This is in the southern Hemisphere and not to be confused with Austria in the Northern Hemisphere.
My budget well its hard to say as per my post over the last two months I have been buying my son his parts to build the rig (to the dis-pleasure of my son). My daughter's one however I don't want to go pass $350 as I will also need to get keyboard mouse moniter etc etc not included in the build price.
