Was the 7600 a typo and you meant 5600? DDR4 and A520 are AM4 things, 7600 is AM5.
Anyway, I haven’t tried Fortnite in recent times so I don’t have much of a gauge for how it scales FPS, but it’s mostly a “should be fine” if you meant a 5600 for the CPU.
Also, Ryzen 5600 supported only after BIOS update on this board. If you unlucky, the board will be with old BIOS out-of-the-box.
An Intel 8400 (non-k) + NVidia RTX 2070 can manage >100fps in 1080p in fortnite. The selected class of GPU/CPU will enable very high frame rates (make sure CPU/mobo/RAM compatibility as per the above comments).
You will need a monitor to support high frame rates. Look for Freesync/Gsync capable monitors as this technology is quite beneficial.
Lastly - even advanced gamers will be hard-pressed to benefit from frame rates above 144-165 fps. It’s easy to overspend chasing “spec numbers”.
Ok, let’s start with putting together your build, I assume 5600 because AM4 motherboard (yes, I put a 7600 in there since 7600 XT are not out quite yet on PCPP):
| Type | Item | Price |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 5600 | $119.99 |
| Motherboard | Asus TUF GAMING A520M-PLUS WIFI | $99.99 |
| Memory | Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 GB DDR4-3200 CL16 | $39.99 |
| Storage | Sabrent Rocket 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 | $69.98 |
| Video Card | Asus ROG STRIX OC Radeon RX 7600 | $339.99 |
| Case | MagniumGear NEO AIR (2023) | $59.99 |
| Power Supply | Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 - TT Premium Edition 850 W 80+ Gold Fully Modular | $94.99 |
| Total | $824.92 |
Will this run Fortnite on 200+ FPS? You should see performance similar to this, but a 5%-10% drop due to the 5600:
So the answer is, if you crank details down to medium then yes. It could do 150 FPS on high probably, but for 200 FPS high or above, doubt it is enough. So you probably need both a better CPU and GPU for this. This is what I would buy today, if I had that goal:
| Type | Item | Price |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 7 7700 | $329.00 |
| Motherboard | MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI | $149.99 |
| Memory | TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 2x16 GB DDR5-6400 CL32 | $99.99 |
| Storage | TEAMGROUP MP34 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 | $102.99 |
| Video Card | PowerColor Fighter OC Radeon RX 7800 XT | $509.99 |
| Case | MagniumGear NEO AIR (2023) | $59.99 |
| Power Supply | Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 - TT Premium Edition 850W 80+ Gold Fully Modular | $94.99 |
| Total | $1345.94 |
You can shave off a few bucks here but a $1300 budget is pretty much where you need to be for the performance you are asking. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
If you still want a 7600 XT and medium settings are fine, then this build should set you up for another couple of years:
| Type | Item | Price |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | $196.00 |
| CPU Cooler | Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE WHITE ARGB | $36.99 |
| Motherboard | MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI | $109.99 |
| Memory | TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z 2x16 GB DDR4-3600 CL18 | $59.99 |
| Storage | TEAMGROUP MP34 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 | $102.99 |
| Video Card | Asus ROG STRIX OC Radeon RX 7600 | $339.99 |
| Case | MagniumGear NEO AIR (2023) | $59.99 |
| Power Supply | Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 - TT Premium Edition 850 W 80+ Gold Fully Modular | $94.99 |
| Total | $1000.93 |
32GB should be minimum nowadays.
AM4 is a dead end, but should be able to give you your money’s worth for a couple of years still. I still have an AM4 system and see no reason to upgrade.
For CPU either a 5600 or a 5700. X variants are fine if you don’t mind paying a bit more, but performance isn’t that much different.
Motherboard, I second the MSI B550M PRO-VDH Wifi. Incredible value and has most everything you would want except USB C and 10gbps USB.
For the RAM, I would really not consider anything lower than 32GB if it’s a for mix use machine that includes gaming.
For the video card, either a cheap 6700XT/6750XT or just go for a 7800XT. The 7600 and 7600XT are a disappointment and too expensive for what they offer. The 6800 is a good card, but I have sen 7800XTs at near the same price.
