I find it interesting that they switched to Google as the default search engine. I understand why they did it, but the main reason I’m using Firefox is to get away from Google/Apple/Microsoft’s spying rings as much as possible.

Unfortunately it really is more a reflection on the failure of Google’s competition to actually compete than anything else and most users aren’t going to be happy with other results.

Concerns me slightly since I have the same CPU.

Just got the update sync today on Solus, and its awesome. Been using FF nightly weeks ago and I am really pleased with it now being in stable.

Got the update this morning. So far so good.

Just got the update on mobile today. It is better than before for sure.

Its a great browser, I have been looking to get rid of Chrome for a while now and its great.
On my work laptop (Windows 10 Pro) it replaced edge, reason I used edge was for the application guard features.
On my personal laptop (Fedora currently) it replaced chrome there.

I have been using it since dev previews on/off, dev preview gave me extremely bad battery drain, beta was good but things like HTTPS everywhere were not supported.
I’m putting it through its paces now, if it survives ill be getting my family and my mums work place to switch to it full time and ditch chrome.

Needs work.

Its using up the same amount of ram as chrome with the same tabs open on both, and firefox is a tad slower.

I am also getting no 4K option when trying to watch youtube. WTF is that about?

I think what this has done though is it has shown that firefox is not only capable of keeping up with chrome, but potentially beating it out.

I mean firefox is like a split second slower than chrome and this is their first real release of quantum. Once they work in a few bug fixes and further optimize the browser based on user feedback and data, I think they might take off.

Page load times are DEF better, but it randomly hangs? I have this forum over, a youtube stream, and cookie clicker. I click over on cookie clicker, the window hangs. Click on the YT stream chat and the text box is selected but I can type (I have to select the box, click white space, select again, THEN I can type).

I know the devs are scared people won’t use it, and I don’t blame them. Half of this shit is lazy code. Plus I don’t have flash so newgrounds and porn doesn’t work.

I was having the same issue; it seems to be a compatibility issue between Firefox 57 and the ‘new Youtube’ layout; I reverted back to the previous theme and I haven’t had any trouble since then. Hopefully this gets fixed.

…HOW DO I DO THAT
Please help I hate this PS3 youtube bullshit.

Click your profile icon in the top right corner, then “Restore old youtube”

Can I like get shitty 2008 youtube back DX

Probably not, but you can look back with warm nostalgia and fond memories via the waybackmachine : https://web.archive.org/web/20080205181436/http://youtube.com/

The default behavior is to have separate URL and search bars. A clear sign that the universe is beginning to right itself.

They got rid of the “search bar” in the upper-right corner!

RIP to one of my favorite plain text editors.

You can just click on customize and readd it.

ok good! The URL bar isn’t even close to the search bar for converting text to plaintext.

I’m still a little bh I have to enable the feature. With all the spying browsers do, they should know how much I abuse that bar.

The UI is a little strange looking. Other than that, it is great.

Interesting.
