Finding the right adapters for drive bays

Hey y’all,

I’ve got this chassis for free, and I was using these open holes to run 140 fans to get nice flow through, but I’m looking to transform the chassis into a home server, and I was looking for the adapters for the holes to make them 5.25" bays, then using icydock to make the 3x5.35 into 5x3.5 on each size. Or any other adapters that are known to people.

My other option is to get the icydock and use my fabulous and impeccable second to none bodging skills to hold them in place and spot weld a thing together.

Here is the picture of the front of the case.

These openings already are 5.25", they’re probably on their sides :arrow_heading_down: (i.e. the drives are mounted vertically)

Aliexpress has cheap, mostly non-hot-swappable drive cages that could very well be useful in this case. (pun intended :stuck_out_tongue: )

Well hot-damn. I’m a dumbass. Thank you!

Sounds like a fun project! Using adapters to convert the fan holes to 5.25" bays is a solid idea, especially with the ICY DOCK setup for maximizing drive space. If you can’t find specific adapters for those holes, your “second to none bodging skills” could definitely come in handy. A bit of DIY with some spot welding might be just what you need to customize it for your home server. Can’t wait to see the final result!
