Film: I'd love some feedback from people who can think

YouTube comments r sux. People on the Tek... I like to think they have distinction, and a cup of tea.

So I submit my film, a Bear Grylls parody to you guys for review ;).

That's me in it, I also edited for 10,000 years to complete it. Music composed by my friend and it took about 6 months from the idea to finish.

Anyone else here into editing/filmmaking? Would love to talk about the art form. Also you can never have to much RAM for editing (I say that, even though I only have 4gb DDR2 :/)

I actually really enjoyed it, the sound is great. I do have to say that your acting could bve a bit more serious sometimes, i suspected a lot of smiles. Also, try not to zoom in with the camera, but instead walk up to what you want to film, it makes the image less shocky. This is of course not a problem if you dont do it all the time, but at one point i got kinda annoyed by it. But i really enjoyed it, great job!

Thanks man, we have a composer friend who mastered the sound and wrote the music, lucky to have him. Also a Rode NTG-2 which is insanely sensitive.

There were definitely times when I was trying not to smile, when the Cameraman/Director was *giggling* and I had to ignore him ha. A couple of scenes I would do again if I had known my acting was a bit off.

Personally I hate zooms too, and I wouldn't put them in a film - but for this we wanted to film in the same style as the real show, so that's why they're in there. I do get that though, it's not a real technique in my book - annoyed me enough in Django Unchained :D

I thought it was pretty well done. I too am usually not a fan of zooms unless it fits in the style of what you're making. Like in The Office, since its DocuStyle it works well.  I actually really loved the fast zooms in Django Unchained, but those are very hard to pull off.

And on the RAM side of things, I spent the last 4 years editing on a Laptop with 4GB of DDR2 and a Core2Duo, so I know what thats like. Recently built myself a new computer so I didn't have to edit at the school and be bugged by all the people who 'know better' and try and edit things for you.

ha that sounds horrible, looking over your shoulder

Last year was worse.  Just because the seniors were incredibly full of themselves and kept trying to get me to use more "really cool transitions."  Basically, they were all in love with those really cheesey, Star Wars style transitions that only work in Parody and in Star Wars.

In hindtight, it was pretty hilarious!

ha like the next shot SWOOPING in from the top left or other horrible stock ones. Why on earth haha

This is what those dudes ended up doing...
