So in Okinawa I had a 9ms ping on a good day and a 3mbps down and 1mbps up. This is a major improvement

I didn't want to deal with cropping off of a phone and I'm on the move.

How much $$$?

And here I am. Overpaying for 1mb download 350kbps up because my dad doesn't want to change the internet. Lmao.

80 bucks lol it does have a data cap of 1TB but you can get unlimited for 120. This is all USD btw

With phone and cable? We are paying 60 euros (66.7 dollars) for that crappy internet speed lmao. I hate my life right now.

no, it's cheaper if you get a phone with the fiber but I'm on a family plan with a separate carrier. I feel your pain man. i was paying 90 usd for my plan in Okinawa. It was the worst internet i've had since dialup. just hang in there.

lawl, a 1TB data cap? At gigabit? You'd pass your data cap in less than 2 hours and 30 minutes at full speed.

Gigabit internet with data bandwidth caps makes no sense unless the cap is on the order of 300 terabytes. But then they'd make no sense because you'd go over your cap. So really they're just useless.

I'd shell out for unlimited, but that depends on the monies I suppose.

If cable TV content were IP traffic, it would be at 2-5Gbit speeds with no cap.

But... it's gigabit so... happy internetings!

Well, after a quick google search looks like a swedish company is offering 1000mbs fiber (700-1000 download/200-400up) for 40 bucks without phone.

WHAT THE FUCK.

in one month we used a little less than 200 Gb. To break it down a little better if i was to stream 1080P it would take me 400 hours to hit 1TB

Sweds man. They actually give a shit about people and tech its seems.

This is why America is regarded among the likes of third-world countries in terms of high-speed internet that is STANDARD everywhere else.

In your face, Indonesia.

I hate American ISPs... I hate the political maneuvering that led to this... and I hate the people for being such complacent sheep...

I don't like the fact that US internet companies actually have limits for downloads. No such thing here in Spain (at least yet)

Get this shit. the apartment complex I moved into only uses one ISP so I had to get fiber from this company basically or regular cable. They had me sign a form they were going to track my cookies and sell them to other companies for advertising purposes otherwise it would cost me $200. WTF. I told the ISP i would be using a vpn and they said that it was ok but WTH. Where is the FCC on this?

They're part of Europe, so they probably care about infrastructure a hell of a lot more than the old men in power here. Our only hope is Google Fiber and that's slow-going as it is.

Estonia has us beat hand-over-fist in terms of internet standards. Japan has FTTP and FTTH wired pretty much everywhere except for the super-difficult countryside where all the elderly computerless people live...

It's embarrassing.

Request: Could you give us the name of this provider? Query: Is there a reason you haven't disclosed this yet? Are they a local ISP? What fiber equipment did they provide you with (modem, router, NICs, APs, etc.)? How much did it cost you for the stuff that wasn't? Is your house wired now for fiber, or is it FTTN?

My thoughts exactly. And he also doesn't know how to level a camera.

AT&T and they give a modem and router. the apartment is prewired for fiber.
