Hey all, I just installed OpenSUSE and the latest fglrx AMD graphics drivers according to https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:AMD_fglrx (added repo and installed from yast software manager) and have been getting underwhelming results to say the least. In Ubuntu with the fglrx driver, I tested out the half life 2 lost coast video stress test and got an average of about 120fps. Good. But when I tried it in OpenSUSE with the fglrx driver, I got closer to one fifth if that (about 24fps). What gives?!
I don't have AMD myself so I can't replicate your results, but please add these so maybe someone else can:
- your card model
- fglrx version
- opensuse version (13.1 13.2 tumbleweed?)
- DE, etc. (desktop environment, session manager, compositor)
Perhaps is something related to steam/hl2lc not detecting the proper renderer?
Normally I use this website for installing my graphics card drivers and codecs and they run just fine.

Have you checked that the propriety version is loaded instead of the opensource-driver? You can do that by running:
lsmod | grep fglxr
from a terminal. post the output here if you are not sure.
Could you post the output of these commands? You can use pastebin if you want.
sudo lshw -sanitize
lspci | grep VGA
lsmod
This will give us an idea of what hardware you have, as well as what the OS is seeing and using.
We also need to know:
What version of openSUSE are you running?
What desktop environment are you using?
Is there anything special about the way you have configured your system?
Have you updated recently?
Are you getting reduced performance in other games too? What about other source engine games?
