Fedora, staph

Fedora live workstation 22&23 is failing to boot, even when testing or in basic GUI mode.
Not sure what's going on. It told me to copy this file so it may help?

I have tried 2 different USB drives, both brand new and work fine for debian...

It usually starts with the message that the GPU arch is not supported, loads for a solid 5 minutes then spits out something about not finding files even though the ISO hashes match

I'd really like to use fedora.

Not sure if this help, I have encountered similar issues of Fedora unable to boot. Ctrl + Alt + F4 to access terminal and type dnf upgrade. This solve my problem at least.

try booting from a DVD. that usually does the trick for me

What are your system specs?

For the live cd before it boots edit the boot options and add nomodeset see if that helps.

Alternatively use the netinstal https://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/23/Workstation/x86_64/iso/Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_64-23.iso

Sometimes live images cant account for every piece of hardware and get it wrong, the net install is usually just a minimal install gui with no live environment.

I'll try dnf upgrade

I don't have a DVD drive on this laptop

I have a lenovo 900
I7
940m
I'll give that a try thanks

Ignore poor formatting, phone editor is shit

Finally got around to testing these solutions but to no avail. Same issue on ALL but the DVD suggestion.

So, its the live cd/usb that's not working?

What are you using to burn the images?

Could you try one of the community updates live disks https://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/live-respins/

It will probably be related to the fact that your using a mobile gpu which has all that bumblebee problems with it.

I'm using uui and another tool I cannot remember.
It does seem to be the GPU but I cannot find an answer.

Its unlikely to help but I normally use rufus when burning ISOs on windows its never let me down.

Except for trying a newer live cd which may have updated drivers im not sure what else to try

This might be the issue

[    1.637781] localhost kernel: nouveau 0000:02:00.0: enabling device (0006 -> 0007)
[ 1.638548] localhost kernel: nouveau ![ DEVICE][0000:02:00.0] unknown Maxwell chipset
[ 1.638589] localhost kernel: nouveau E[ DEVICE][0000:02:00.0] unknown chipset, 0x118070a2

[ 1.639273] localhost kernel: nouveau: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -22

You could also try F24 alpha which is out tomorrow/today

That is the issue. I think I'll try arch.

FYI, a workaround that will get your system installed (regardless of distro) is to disable the nvidia card in BIOS, once done you can setup bumblebee/optimums properly then reenable it.
