turns out this was completely grey hat and may well be black hat.
the warrant was a myth, the computers while were on the botnet were world wide.
and once they removed the botnet software. didn’t tell anyone it was done.
they just announced they did it…
and that IM NOT OK WITH!.
its one thing to be a lone wolf playing good-guy on the web, slaying botnets and sinking phishing trawlers.
but when law enforcement is involved they should be doing it legally.
precisely because they are law enforcement.
as we cant uphold the law by breaking the law.
so yeah sounded good when you read the headlines.
not so great when you looked a little deeper.
