FBI Facial Recognition System

I Though this was pretty interesting. I know they have something like this in Las Vegas. Now their planning to roll out to the General Public. What are your thoughts on it? Invasion of Privacy or a Great anti-criminal tool?

It was inevitable in my mind, technlogy is a powerful weapon, if its wielded in the wrong hands, lets hope its used with respect.

It's like saying; Hey dont look at my face, youre invading my privacy while im out in _public_.

Serious criminals will still get past it. All they'll do is pick up the stupid criminals and innocent people. They'd probably use things like wigs, hats, glasses, makeup to modify their facial skin tone, fake facial tattoos, eye contacts to change the color of their iris, or even one of those things where they apply an entire mold to your face to completely change your appearance altogether, can't remember what they are called.

Lol, this isn't going to work.

There's more people in California than there is in the entire (And dare I say fucking massive) country of Canada. That's 34 million for Canada, and 37 Million for California alone. How in the fuck do you expect one system, even with super computers like the Jaguar, to monitor 37 million in one state alone, millions of which don't live in huge cities, and more living in such close quarters. There's 311 million people in America. Lets just say, for the sake of argument, that each image is 1MB. That's 311 Terabytes (Someone check my math, it may be off); or 1 exabyte (Leaving room for the massive amount of software and other shit). As far as I know, exabytes only come in traditional HDD's, and lets face it, do you really think the government is going to invest in a 1 exabyte SSD? That thing will fail within a year. So, with 1 exabyte, which is (1,073,741,824 GB's) it would take roughly a month to search that entire HDD through something like the windows file searcher.

There's no way in hell this is ever going to be something that is worth while, the government is wasting their time, and taxpayer money, just to spy on 1 millionth of the population. Fucking wankers.

It's very much a possibility. Now whether the technology I cited above is an exaggeration or not, if something like this has been leaked publicly; imagine what hasn't been leaked?
