Favorite window managers, text editors, terminal emulators, etc.?

Favorite Gnome icon set? Cursor? Favorite anything really. Since there's so much stuff in a Linux setup to be favoritist about, what's everybody's favorite stuff?

Lots of help threads around here, lets get some friendly discussion served up. Try to keep any holy wars civil.

For me (short list to get things started):

Desktop environment - Xfce

Text editor - nano

Terminal emulator - terminator

What else do you got?

I love awesomeWM as my DE.

I use xfce4-terminal.

also cmatrix is the best thing ever.

awesome, emacs, urxvt

also conky and compton are nice to have

vlc for media, transmission for torrents

tmux is invaluable because I tend to move between multiple computers and it is nice to be able to share ssh sessions, etc.

rsync is handy, and python is great as a quick calculator and for performing simple programming tasks

Whatever works best and suits my fancy, there is just so much choice in great quality software, I always experiment and drag in ever more experimental stuff, then break something, revert, stay conservative for a few days, then feel the need for experimenting again, da capo...

AwesomeWM for tiling/day-to-day, Openbox for goofing around.

Emacs, Sublime Text, and nano.

Terminator with transparency and cmatrix on startup.

Nano!

rtorrent and libtorrent with apache2 and rutorrent; Robust seeding right there. even works during nuclear fallout. (transdroid connectivity on android!! works GREAT)

systemd! Those boottimes.... dear god!!! (thanks for forcing me arch. I'll never yell at you again - cant promise that tho. Learning was kind of hard/new to make your own daemons, instead of the init.d model, but REWARDING)

TurboVNCserver; The only occasion where I run X, is remotely, this vncserver is the most stable for me - And it works flaweless on android devices. (others crash!)

IRSSI!!! the one and only irc client. (irssi connectbot provides great use on android devices! cant let those chats slip away 24/7)

Samba shares and VPN. - obvious why, durrrrrrrrrr. Those torrents need to be streamed from somewhere.

Well. That is how I mainly use my linux rig. Nothing fancy really. But it gets the job done, and stays at it.

I just fired up Fedora 19 on my desktop, and I can safely say Gnome 3 is not my favorite anything.

I use xfce with conky for eye candy and visual continuity.

The one thing I can't live without is MPD and these days I use it in conjunction with Ario client, mainly because it has great panel intergration and is easily configurable with my ISP's unmetered content.

su -c 'yum install awesome'

I already have Xfce up and running. Perhaps I'll give awesome a go later.

A lot of the stuff you guys mentioned, I've honestly never even heard of. I'm a terrible Linux user.

To the repos!

I like you.

irssi is a fantastic client, the only one I use for IRC nowadays.

I remember the big controversy when Arch switched to systemd. Smart move, in my books :)
