Fastest Way to transfer files from a server to PC

filezilla transfer is byhteway different then SSH that i ment. I think its Filezilla that slows it down. (last time i used is 10 years ago). I usually just do ssh things directly over command line.

I just setup a Samba. I've measured no loss in performance. Maybe something else is causing network slowness?

The fasted network protocol is TFTP (no redundency) fastest
Then FTP (redundency) Medium
Then SFTP (uses encryption) slowest

TFTP (Trivial ftp) is the fasted because it does not have error checking, nor does it have encryption. For this reason it is only recommended to be used on a local network.

hes talking about a differences of 90 MB between sftp and samba in the same setup.

I'm not sure what it is, but I'm using a default install of ubuntu on both machines, and a Linksyss 1900AC

Totally agree. NFS and a both using a network cable to your router / switch.

40G is nothing. Will only take the speed of the slowest drive more than likely but still less than an hour.
