Hey guys I’ve finally got some money together and decided to spend it on a VPN. I’ve never had a VPN service, but recently I’ve been wanting to switch more and more. I also recently switched to Linux so I’m not entirely sure how everything works, but so far I’ve been enjoying it a lot. The only thing I’m lacking is that GTA V things I give up for a superior OS…
Which VPN service ( that doesn’t keep logs) would you suggest for Ireland/Northern Ireland?
How will my internet speed be effected?
My current speed is 120mb/s down 10 up
I’m using Ubuntu 15.04 (because 15.10 is broken on AMD) with Unity.
I've been happy with AirVPN, speeds depend on what servers you use & how crowded they are at a given time but the speeds have always been good enough for netflix & youtube without cutouts EDIT: Here's a link to their howto for setting it up using the ubuntu network manager
Im testing out airvpn. They definitely work. They can provide any number of .ovpn configs for you that you can import though networkmanager and its all ready to go.
I noticed though that their IPs are banned on debians wiki but that seems a rare occurrence.
Speed depends on the server used, though for the most part ive had decent speed, you will get some overhead though, you can get upwards of 100mbit on them.
I was able to get 70-80 on some servers (my max bandwidth is 82mbit)
you can set up port forwarding (up to 20) and up to 3 simultaneous connections.
In regards to no logging. you cannot guarantee that there will be no logging, but most these days do either 'no' logging or minimal logging.
