Fantastic deal (<$400) on a gaming PC capable HP Z420 Workstation

This deal was removed from Slickdeals because the seller doesn't have 10,000 feedback.

Even though he's a top rated plus seller with over 1,000 feedback...

So I'm posting it here! I have a feeling the Tek Syndicate community will appreciate and understand this a little better than SD did. Deal: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252259545038?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

HP Z420 workstation with an E5-1650 (aka i7-3930K) 6-core CPU, 16GB ECC DDR3 RAM (4x 4GB, 4 slots free), 600W 90% efficient PSU and 160GB SSD with Win7 Pro COA. All it needs is an R9 or GTX GPU and your Windows 7 installation to turn it into a beastly gaming PC or CAD machine with Quadro or Firepros. Or just use it as-is for a surprisingly powerful server for under $400.

The BIN is $450, but the seller is accepting offers for $400. After the 4x ebay bucks promo going on until tomorrow, the total cost will only be $364. I already bought and received four, so if you have any specific questions about the hardware I can answer them.

The four I received had between 0.9 years and 1.7 years of power-on time on the SSDs, so they are pretty much like new.

The seller keeps adding more, so I'm not sure how many he really has. I hope someone benefits from the time I've spent compiling all this information. :)

That has 2 quadro graphics cards with 512mb ddr3 with a PCIE 1X connector . Its meant for professional use, not gaming. though the processor is not too bad for the price. Also i think promoting an ebay post is against the forum rules.

Is it? I tried to read the forum rules before posting anything, but it brought me straight to a page that didn't exist, so I couldn't read them.

If this needs to be removed that's fine. But, it'll make me sad.

That said, in my post I mentioned that if you remove the video cards and drop in your own GPU, it will be a very powerful gaming PC.

the only possible issue is that the link is a pcie 1x, most graphics cards are 16x. idk what the motherboard has for i/o so i could be wrong on that one. But its a good find. that would make a decent vm server.

The motherboard has two PCI-E x16 slots.

The power supply also has two PCI-E 6-pin power connections, and one can be converted to 8-pin with a $3 adapter. (it's an officially supported configuration from HP.)

Ah it does. then that is a good deal. sorry for ever disputing your post

I don't mind at all! Just giving out the facts.

The CPU itself is worth the price, haha. I don't really care for the rest.

Exactly! Drop in a small ram upgrade and have a decent VM server running
