Fallout: New Vegas pissing me off

So some folks may remember me talking about NV a while ago, and how I found the decision-making and roleplaying to generally be very sporadic.

So I am now doing For the Republic, part 2. I am in the process of peacefully negotiating a deal with the Khans so they may steer clear of Caesar's Legion. I don't want them to blow away Karl, but there is an alternative. I have found that you can present the Slave Leger to one of the Khans to help convince them. The only problem is... it takes you to Caesar's fort. And you get the Platinum Chip removed from you, along with your inventory. So you can't go back. And you are forced to work for Caesar. I just want to take my stuff back and go back to Red Rock Canyon and continue working with the NCR.

I don't see any way of avoiding this bullshit. I'm seriously about to just open up the console and put the motherfucking leger in my inventory, then give it to the Khan.

I go to exit the entrance to Mr. House's bunker, and the Legionairre tells me he can't let me leave with my things until the job is finished. WHAT THE FUCK, MAN?!

I've played EVERY Bethesda-style RPG, I've played countless RPGs in general. And New Vegas just inherently has a problem with decision-making and how all things are interconnected. It's frustrating. Everything was going well until this shit.

Dude, just play the game. When you go to Caesar's camp for ANY reason and have the Platinum Chip, you have to complete that portion of the main quest. Do it, and then you can be on your merry way. It's not like you're pledging your allegiance to Caesar's Legion.

Well, shit. "Just play the game." is a pretty blunt statement. I'm trying to find any possible outcome that involves not doing something I DO NOT want to do. From what I'm seeing, it isn't a part of the main quest. It's one path for the main quest. So far, I've only ever been working with the NCR. You start the NCR path through Ambassador Crockett from my understanding. I didn't realize this game was quite LITERALLY a Kansas City Shuffle in that nature. Very, very unorganized. In Fallout 3, you had several paths to take, but they were clear. And even points where you may choose to diverge from your path were made clear to you. Perfect example: Eden giving you the modified FEV virus... Things like this make very little sense in this game.
