Extremely long SSD boottime

Hello smart people,

so I finally got me a SSD, Intel 520 128GB, but my boottime is so long lol.
Takes about 30 seconds after BIOS till I'm actually on my desktop.

Yes I've used a SATA3 port, yes I've used a SATA3 cable, yes it's a fresh Win7 installation - no data migration.

When I test the read speed of the SSD in Windows with something like crystal disk mark i get like 450MB/s, so seems to be fine.

But the boottime is just way too long for a SSD, any advice?

What CPU do you have? What motherboard do you have? Are your drivers up to date? Is your SATA controller in AHCI mode instead of IDE? Is your SSD firmware up to date? Is your BIOS up to date?

seems to be the IDE instead of AHCI thing. problem is solved

Also if havent done so allready, set your machine to use all processors during bootup. It is set to one by default, so might be able to get a nice boost there. You'll find the option in msconfig -> boot -> advanced options -> number of processors.

What is your boottime now, after the AHCI fix?

can't tell you, sorry.
have to reinstall windows first

and i'm gonna do that when i upgrade to 1150

  1. change it back to ide
  2. Go into windows and change 1 simple registry setting
  3. change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci  to 0
  4. Restart
  5. Change to ACHI
  6. Load windows
  7. restart
  8. ????
  9. profit
