I’m thinking about ways to stuff GPU’s into my 1U server, and oculink comes up. Why is there no cards with external oculink connectors, meant for something like a JBOD enclosure for hard drives, but for GPU’s and other PCIe peripherals? The only (pretty bad) way I can think to do this is a x16 m.2 card, and 4 m.2 to oculink adapters, which wouldn’t have any redrivers or signal conditioning.
Not even mentioning a way to turn the power supplies on for such a enclosure so the gpu’s will always start up with the server.
