External HDD and autoplay

I have an external 4 bay enclosure hooked up by usb. When it wakes from sleep mode the Autoplay pops up for each drive(set up to show all drives separately). Can I turn off Autoplay and still have the drives show up under my computer with all the media in them?

I guess my question is by turning off autoplay will it still read the drive coming out of sleep mode? Plus will this effect other drives(flash)connected later?

Also not sure exactly what and where I should be disabling the Autoplay feature as Win7 just show mass setting for autoplay, not for individual drives?

I should mention that my 4bay unit turns on/off when the pc is off/on or sleep mode.

Thanks for your help

Hey, Welcome to RazeTheWorld.

Windows Autoplay is just a program that looks for text file on the drive itself that tells it what to do, since these are hard drives without this text file, you don't really need it anyway.

To disable Autoplay:

The hard drives should turn on and off without a problem, while not bugging you with what action to take.

Thanks so much. You were very helpful.

Really nice to have a place to go for these types of things. So thank you forum ops and site admins.
