External Bluray Drive

I am looking for a sleek external bluray drive, it must be able to write dvd & cd's as well. I bought a laptop without an optical drive and I want to be able to throw an external drive in my laptop case and have it for trips (watching blurays, burning cds, etc). I have 2 questions. 1) I have USB 3.0 capabilities, should I take advantage of that on this purchase? 2) What should I buy? XD

Didn't even try did you? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151259&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&PageSize=10&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&IsFeedbackTab=true#scrollFullInfo

thats a bit bad form

he is asking teksyndicate users who have knowledge for their opinion

i.e people he trusts, dont berate him for trusting us

for just general use USB 2.0 is fine, there would be a slight difference for things like burning media between 2 and 3 but not anything to write home about to be fair.

the sort of things you would need to look for is its power requirements, some external drive require an outlet to work whilst other will run purely from USB, this will also play into things like battery life on your laptop etc. Also the faster a drive works usually means the more power it will draw. Theres loads around the market but i would suggest you look at power stats rather than USB 3/2 requirements as power seems more relavent with laptops.
