Does anyone have any experience with the Icy Dock hot swap cases for 2.5" SSDs?
I’m concerned about temps and haven’t found anything relevant in my googling.
Any other experience you can give would be great too. Thanks!!
I do but none of the drives in it are currently in use. What speed do you have the fan on?
I have one in the mail, arriving Friday. I just know electronics and SSD controllers work/last longer when kept cooler.
I just wanted to get some feedback from other on how well the fans worked to keep the drives cool. It doesn’t seem like there is room for much airflow. I’ll run it on high if I need to, to keep drive temps in check.
I’m usually a fan of big and slow fans, so I’ve little experience with the little 40mm versions.
The flash actually like to be warm only the controller likes it cool
I’m also interested to know as I’m planning to get a MB326SP-B, which has 2x 40mm fans, once it’s back in stock / for the right price.
One other thing I’d like to know is whether SATA power extensions are a must and if so, where the hell do you get non-molded SATA power cables?!
Yeah but honestly consumer drives go in no air flow laptops and dont have any issues, so I really wouldn’t worry at all
I have this one if you’re curious:
No fan.
Has served me fairly well.
Not much to really say about it. I mean it just works.
So yeah.
Have had an Icy Dock in my system since 2014 with no issues.
(2 SSD sleds 1 slim optical drive)
Airflow is fine. Doesn’t pull in a lot of dust but I can feel the draw if I put my hand up to it.
Thanks @Techisattva ! This is what I wanted to hear. I’m looking to add a couple to a small server I’m starting to pick up parts for.
