Excited and Terrified about the upcoming VR headsets and games

So I have been looking forward to the no man's sky released around my birthday this year.

The thing is is this.

There are all these headsets coming out with the golden promise of immersive VR environments, however, everything is blurry in regards to what games are going to have VR. I really want to dive into VR but if it's not supported on No mans sky I feel like I will not get it.

Does anyone else feel a bit confused about all the VR business?

Are you all willing to pay the heavy price tags for potentially "Kind of immersive but not really environments?" example: Walking into walls and breaking headset?

I do hope that they get this down, I remember years ago when they had dabbles in this but they didn't have the hardware. This would also potentially fuel the rebirth and widespread use of joysticks I feel :D

Joystick / VR headset = Space heaven!

How does everyone else feel about this?

As soon as I have the money for an omni treadmill I am in.

Shit. I just realized I have enough space for it now that I moved out.

I'm not quite sold on the first gen HMD's yet even though my pc is plenty powerful enough to handle any of them. I don't like the 110 degree FOV. I would rather wait for one with a wider FOV and eye tracking built into the HMD. The StarVR headset or one with similar specs is really what I would like to get my hands on but I know it will be a year or more before a consumer version will be ready.

So I'm curious what kind of FOV would be ideal for me with a VR headset.

In 1080p gaming I enjoy between 100-120 degrees, depending on the game.

There is one huge issue with PC VR stuff... And one huge and i mean HUGE advantage to Sony VR...
So, let's say i get Ocolus for 600$, and i need the GPU for 500$, and a decently large room, etc... And then Ubisoft comes, makes a game, that runs 7fps on lowest on my 500$ GPU and i puke myself to death from motion sickness...
And then, there is Sony VR...
300$ for the headset, 400$ for the console... On top of being the price of the Steam certified HTC Vive, it also have the rule of "60FPS all the time or no Playstation VR certification, meaning you can't sell it." So on top of being cheaper, it will most likely run better. 60fps is the rule for console VR...
Yeah, i am not excited about Ocolus nor Vive at all... Not when my current PC costs less than the headset...

The more I look around the more alternatives pop up and the more I see about different companies working on making different models, the more I think that by the time Version 2 or 3 rolls around of a lot of the head sets will be selling for closer to $200-$300 for used or their equivalent. But with the way my luck runs, some one will probably break one and ask me to fix it and then when I go to return it they will have bought another one because they couldn't wait a few days for me to figure it out and repair it. Personally I'm 1/2 expecting Apple to do what apple does and anounce a 5k @ 200+ refresh rate for $2499 or something like that for the iPhone...
