Excessive coil whine a valid reason to RMA?

Hi i'm Terre and my ASUS z77 Sabertooth motherboard has recently developed an incredibly loud and irritating coil whine (I can hear it over my GTX 780 and H100i even when playing games) It does occasionally stop but the silence never lasts more than 10 mins or so.

I can't really put up with the whine any longer and have considered seeing if i can RMA the board but my main concern is that the board isn't faulty other than the sound it's making, and secondly the fact that i don't have any other computer to use in the meantime to do work on, from what i read on their website they only offer advanced RMA (Where you get the board first then send it off to them, and if you don't they charge you for the new board).

So, can anyone shed light on my situation here? I want the noise gone but don't want to be without a computer.

Thanks

Well the only thing you can really do is ask them if they'll send you a replacement motherboard BEFORE you send your faulty one to them. The only other options are to buy another motherboard or to stick with the whine.

Buying a motherboard for a chipset that's no longer supported sounds like tons of fun. Guess i'll phone them tomorrow and explain my situation to them, here's hoping. Thanks mate.

Let us know how it turns out.

z77 isn't THAT old... i mean, really.

I don't think companies accept coil whine as an excuse to RMA, honestly. It doesnt do any harm.
