EVGA nforce 780i problems

I recentlyu bought a new computer with the 780i as my motherboard. It normally runs great and lag free, but occasionly it will crash, this only happens when I am watching a movie (avi or mp4(?)) or playing crysis (including crysis warhead).

When its about to crash the screen slows down(the sound stays normal) and lines appear all down my screen, they are red, green, and blue in color. Then my screen goes black and unresponsive. When this happens while watching a movie a square appears around my mouse curser and has the same red, green and plus pattren of lines.

I have tried updateing my Video card drivers ( have a Gforce 8800 GTS 512) but the probloem stays, leading me to belive that it is a problem with the mother board.

TL;DR= compputer crashes while playing crysis/movies lines appear.

Any help would be great

Thanks

i dont think its ur motherboard i think its ur video cards they could be faulty or when u swapped ur mobo around u coulda damaged them

i broke a 8500 by pulling out the plug once and got a 8600gt when i took it back

Install the right driver..

Do it like this:

Download drive sweeper (google it)

Then you uninstall the gfx driver, reboot into safe mode, use drive sweeper to clean up the shit from the old drivers, now when still in safemode, install new driver... > Reboot... Done

It's no where close to a motherboard problem. It's your video card not being able to decode the video.

Yea I realize that now, ima try what GreenSLi said, if that doesn't work I'll remake this topic in the right forum

unless a mod wants to move it lol

lol.

Buy XFX!

:D

do they have the same specs? i thought the XFX 780i wasn't as good as the evga one for some reason.. there's like a 3-1 ratio of evga 780i's sold per xfx.

even though i <3 both companies (my 8600gt is xfx :3)

Well I did what GreenSLi said, I'll play some crysis later to see if it fixes it.

The XFX is more stable in most instances especially when it comes to overclocking.

Im not sure if that was the 780 or the 790 but either way, I trust XFX more than EVGA.

:D

It may be a sign of the video corruption that the 780i motherboards have been expirencing. Theres a ton of people out getting this symptoms, including me. I don't get it playing any of my games but when it comes to watching streaming videos or watching a DVD movie. I re-installed a nVidia Beta driver and it worked but then my games started crashing so I went back to the one I am running now and it hasn't done it yet(but its the same one that I had before getting the newer one).

No one seems to know and no manufacturer will saying anything about it and we know they know about it

"I trust XFX more than EVGA."

for me its the other way around, im pretty sure the build quality is about the same but evga is better when it comes to the warranty and returns

Update your bios. Lol. Most people who I know that had that problem solved it by flashing the bios. You most likely have an outdated one if its like that =P.

"evga is better when it comes to the warranty and returns"

Lol my point exactly.

Never had to exchange or return any of my XFX products.
