EVGA 650 ti or Crossfire HD4850's?

Okay I did a pc build and they guy is offering me with 75 bucks or an EVGA GTX 650 Ti 2gb card... I could take the cash and spend 50 bucks and get a second hd4850 or get the gtx 650 ti... Hw compare says the 2 hd4850's would be better by a decent amount but the 1 gtx 650 ti would be nice to have... What should I do take the card or the cash?

According to Tom's Hardware, the 4850 x2, which I'd imagine would offer very similar, if not identical, performance to 4850's in CF, is only slightly faster than a 650-Ti

I'd take the 650-Ti. Lower power consumption/heat, more consistent performance, no micro-stuttering, and access to newer technologies, such as DX11, OpenGL 4, more memory for loading larger textures, and just better optimization for newer games.

The thing with Hardware Compare is that it tells theoretical performance, which almost never translates to actual performance due to architecture, drivers, and various optimizations.

660

It's like ~50 more dollars, and the 650ti can't SLI, has 1gb of GDDR5 and the 660 is 50% more badass

edit: seems I didn't see that the 650ti was $75 and was the 2gb version. please disregard

So everyone thinks I should go 650ti and just do a single card?

Bump?

A single card is normally going to offer much better performance than dual cards (oddly enough)

I'd just pick up the 650 ti and then try to grab another or sell it off and make some profit from it and grab a better card.

Well it's not SLI. I am going to get it today. Guy said he would do a trade for my hd4850 and 20 bucks on my end that just made me say hell yes since the hd4850 was free lol I may sell it or just roll with it and keep it since it is the 2gb SSC (super super clocked) 650 ti from evga.

I'd say if you're going the 650ti (i would too) get the 650ti boost. for a little bit more.

Well the deal was the guy offered me a trade for services. I would give him my HD4850 and 20 dollars in trade for a EVGA GTX 650 Ti SSC 2GB Card. And I got the hd4850 for free lol

Then do that. much better deal.

~Have fun gaming!

crossfire can cause a few problems, save yourself hours of messing around and go with the single gpu solution

Just got the card! Installing drivers as we speak!
