And by everybody I mean college students. And by college students I mean students that go to a college that is partnered with this website: http://onthehub.com/download/free-software/windows-8/
Found this while I was looking for student discounts on Windows 8.1--unfortunately my school's not on there, but I figured there's gotta be someone on Tek Syndicate that's going to one of the lucky...many, actually. At least in the US, not sure about other countries, but hey, it's worth a shot, right?
that appears to be nothing more than a passthrough to dreamspark, i'd stay far way from it
What's wrong with dreamspark? I googled it and it seemed harmless enough--in fact, it seems pretty great?
WTF, and I just paid $75 the other day for Win 8.1 Pro for Students to put on my buddies pc I'm building for him.
dreamspark = good
other site that does nothing more than mirror dreamspark = probably bad, very bad
yeah, you have to type Win 8.1 in that little search bar after selecting your country, state and school. Then you get to this page http://e5.onthehub.com/WebStore/ProductSearchOfferingList.aspx?srch=Windows+8.1&ws=bfb12d2c-c79b-e011-969d-0030487d8897&vsro=8#divMicrosoft_Windows_8.1_Professional Id try it if i had a machine without 8.1 already that I could use as bait to see if it actually works. But I'm still kinda scared to go any further
where'd you pay $75 for it? It's only $69.99 at the microsoft store: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/productID.288785700&pid=6PR-00009?mr:trackingCode=A2A2865E-0546-E311-8DCD-B8CA3A5D9DDA&mr:referralID=NA&mr:device=c&mr:adType=pla&mr:ad=31967040067&mr:keyword=&mr:match=&mr:filter=64567830307&tid=jjzVkMMT_dc&cid=5250&pcrid=31967040067&WT.srch=1&WT.mc_id=pointitsem_Microsoft+US_google_PLA+-+Windows+8&WT.source=google&WT.medium=cpc&origin=pla
Of course, I suppose you would have to already have Vista or XP to get that price as apparently it's an upgrade-only, but I'm sure you could probably find XP free easily enough.
I wish the link I used said it was an upgrade only. Means I'll have to trick it into being a clean install code.
