Hello Folks,

First thread here; I figure I would share the history of my current PC and where I want to take it moving forward.
I’ll post pictures as soon as I find them

PC Setup V.1.0 - my first EVER PC that I’ve ever built :smiley:

  • CPU:
    • Intel - Core i7-4770K 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor
  • GPU:
    • EVGA - GeForce GTX 970 4 GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card
  • Motherboard:
    • ASRock - Z97 Extreme6/ac ATX LGA1150 Motherboard $269.99
  • Memory:
    • G.Skill - Ripjaws X Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
  • Storage:
    • Western Digital - BLACK SERIES 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
    • Crucial - MX200 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
  • CPU Cooler:
    • Corsair - H100i 77 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
  • PSU:
    • EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 220-G2-0750-XR 80+ GOLD 750W Fully Modular
  • Case:
    • Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Upgraded USB 3.0
  • Monitor:
    • Acer G6 Series G276HL Gbmid Black 27" VA 6ms (GTG) 60 Hz Widescreen LED/LCD Monitor 1920 x 1080 FHD
  • UPS:
    • CP850PFCLCD UPS

PC Setup V.1.5 - This is when I found Jayz2Cents channel and got into watercooling:

  • EK CPU and GPU waterblocks + soft tubing + EK Radiators + Corsair Air Series SP120 and 140 fans
  • Upgraded Monitor to BenQ - XL2720Z 27.0" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor
  • Upgraded Case to MasterCase Pro 5 Mid-Tower Case with FreeForm Modular System
  • Added RGB support NZXT Hue+ and Grid+ V2 Digital Fan Controller

PC Setup V.1.6 - A more iterative change to watercooling

  • Upgraded watercooling loop to use hard line tubing

PC Setup V.2.0 - A big GPU upgrade and better CPU cooling

  • Upgraded to a bigger case be quiet! DARK BASE PRO 900 ATX Full Tower
  • Delidded the CPU (dropped temps by 20C)
  • Upgraded GPU to EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Hydro Copper Gaming
  • Upgraded PSU to EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2, 80+ PLATINUM 1000W
  • Upgraded Monitor to BenQ ZOWIE 2560x1440 LED 144hz (XL2730)
  • Upgraded Peripherals to Logitech G513 keyboard and Logitech G903 Lightspeed

EDIT:

PC Setup V.2.5 - Current Setup - Moved apartment so needed smaller case

  • Case move to White Thermaltake P3
  • Upgraded SSD to Samsung M.2 EVO 512gb
  • Went back to soft tubing as it’s easier to work with

EDIT:

Future Upgrades - Saving money for my birthday to switch to AMD:

  • Upgrade Mobo to x570 Taichi
  • Upgrade CPU to 3700x or 3800x (still undecided)
  • Upgrade RAM to something TBD
  • Re-visit my watercooling parts:
    • get a 360 EK slim radiator
    • push pull fan with EK-vardars (the visible fans will be RGB, the ones in the back just black)
    • maybe go for transparent acrylic pump top to be able to see liquid, unsure yet

And yes, I didn’t match everything with blue :stuck_out_tongue: especially since there are WD - Blues available

Very nice color choice! Soft tube is certainly so much less painful. If only we could get really clear soft tube, that would be awesome. Enjoy that P3, I love mine. Thermaltake gets a lot of hatred, but I very much enjoyed working on the P3 and P5. I bleed a lot less when I work on open frame cases rather than towers. :smiley:

Do you use that huge wall mounted tv as a monitor sometimes?

Unfortunately no. It was too uncomfortable to use in that position.

But I used to watch movies that I had on my PC on the TV.
