my friend has really slow internet and his birthday is coming up, he currently has to use wifi for his computer and he is using some cheap usb wifi connector, so i thought i would get him a new ethernet card to hopefully increase his speeds(he already plans on a new router) i dont know anything when it comes to ethernet cards so i hoping for some recomendations, i have about a 60$ budget.
A new internet card and router will only increase your speeds to the max that your IPS provides/Throttles.

More reliable and generally faster then wifi. Just plug it in and go for it.
I don't know about power line, you need to plug them directly into the wall and a wireless N connection can go up to 300mbps
Wireless is not in actually that fast. Not even close. Most 200mbps powerlines are just as fast as wireless N in real world testing because ISP dont offer that speed of internet. With each foot the connection gets that much worse, and when you add walls it doesnt look any better for wireless. I always recommend powerline over wireless because it gets a better connection then wifi almost all of the time, and because of the ISP you either see better speeds, or the same speeds as wireless.
If its a desktop your plugging into the wall already, so I dont really understand that problem.
@op
dude. the average consumer internet speed isn't even 10 mbps.
I get 300mbps avg wired, but i'm at a university. wifi is like 20 mbit
exactly my point.
Well this is really only in the US. I wish I knew Korean...
