ESXi Vega 64 passthrough Windows fails with drivers

I have an ASROCK motherboard with a Xeon E3-1240 v3 and 16 GB ECC 1600 MHz memory that I put a Vega 64 on. i can pass the Vega to Windows and it will boot as long as I don’t install drivers but after the driver install Windows freezes on boot or it freezes during driver install. The VM has 8 GB ram and 4 threads. ESXi is version 6.5.0 Update 2 (Build 8294253).

I have tried the following.

  • Adding the card with and without the accompanying audio device to the VM.

  • Set pciHole.start to 2048 and end at 4096 as suggested for AMD MxGPU

  • Running with 2048 MB RAM for the VM

  • A combination of the above

Has anyone done this successfully with this or a similar card?

Were you solved that? Does Vega 64 passtrough works normally?

Nah, didn’t get it to work, was thinking it might work on Windows Server but never tested it.
