Ergodox Infinity - Discussion

So the Massdrop for the Ergodox Infinity will be finishing soon (got extended due to the addition of palm rests) has anyone else bit the bullet and bought it?

Also how many people are potentially interested in buying it on future drops, might do a review video if there's interest? I've bought one and being in Australia the price is even more insane so I want to make sure I get good value out of it and get some content out for the community.

So a review is probably in order, would people be interested in a build log? I mean it's pretty freaking boring just soldering ~72 keyswitchs but I could time lapse and do a commentary on the process if there's interest.

Obviously with how customisable the keyboard is people's configurations are going to vary hugely but for mine I got the palm rests and Gatron Black switchs. Bought keycaps separately.

So yeah, interested to hear your thoughts. :)

I really would like to get one. They look really cool, and the Infinity version adds a lot of really nice features. But I just can't justify the cost, even though $200 is actually a pretty good price. But I just can't swing it right now. Maybe next time massdrop does one.

Yeah. Fair call. I only bit the bullet this time because my Microsoft Ergo keyboard has started dying and I'm gonna need a proper mechanical keyboard in the future that's also ergonomic sooooo yeah.

And my final setup 3rd party keycaps included is going to cost around $350AUD which is a huge amount of money to be spending on a keyboard. But to give you an idea it's impossible to get a mechanical keyboard for under the 100-120AUD mark sooo yeah from that perspective not quite so crazy but still. :/

For me, the infinity version only adds a display as opposed to the regular version, which you can source the parts for for much cheaper. This is the reason I didn't buy it.

Instead, I have sourced all the parts myself and managed to put together an ergodox for around £110 minus keycaps.

I want one very badly though have no money for it ;-;

Yeah, that is a lot of money for a keyboard. Maybe someday, when I have a spare $300 laying around, I'll get one. But for now my (free) Model M is perfectly fine.
