Well, the good deal for Milan right now is to put one into the EPYCD8 Asrock Rack board with the special BIOS. You can get one new for less than $500, used for $350-400. A lot cheaper than my ROMED8-2T board that still costs over $650. That is what I am going to put the 7v13 Milan cpu into on Tuesday. As long as 1GB LAN is sufficient and you don’t need official GEN 4 PCIE speeds, then that is great solution.
Core speeds are never going to be as high as a 16 core 5950X or 7950X when fully loaded. But on the lower count Epycs like the 7443P 24c/48t like I own, you still get 4 Ghz 2-4 core speeds and fully loaded still manage 3.6Ghz. That is not shabby. There are high speed Epycs of only 8 and 16 core that have speeds as high as 4.1Ghz
