Enterprise router

As a tech student we do not get to talk about hardware as learning about how to setup a Exchange server is more important unless we bug the teachers about hardware. Now that I am in a capstone I was given the task of choosing a router and switch for a fictional fortune 500 company that creates banking software as my role in the five person group I am in.

So far my group is happy with the router I chose. A cisco 2911. At a glance security and expand-ability if needed.

For the switch we went with cisco 48port

The network needs to support two floors of about 180 to 200 total with split difference between the floor. Wifi is required for some reason, because tablets.

My question is does this router overkill or under-kill? Could a better hardware setup be made?

You could probably get away with a 1921/1941 but I'd stay with the 2911 for the wireless: it has a service module slot so you can get an integrated WCS and a handful of APs. It also handles VoIP.

Do you need gigabit to every station? If so, you'll need a lot of those switches. If not, get one as a distribution switch (make sure it has PoE for the wireless APs) and a handful of the 10/100 versions for the access layer.

I will bring this up next week with my group.

Cool it can handle VoIP, but will probably have Asterisk or something run as a VM on a HP ProLiant server.

Thanks
