Hello,
I would like to know if I could put a Palit GTX 980 TI Super Jetstream or a Inno3D iChill X3 Ultra in my system.
I have a Corsair RM550X.
My rig (imgur link of speccy)
My RAM (link to the official site)
Any help would be appreciated.
Sorry if such threads belong into the gpu section. I'm new here so please be mercyfu.
Basicly that psu should be fine.
unfortunatly i cant open you stats pic, so which cpu do you use?
550W should basicly be okay with a single gpu, an a mainstream platform.
Unless you are using the realy powerhungry X99 platform, then i would recommend something like a 650W psu,
to have a littlebit more headroom.
Thanks for the fast answer :D
CPU: i5 6600k
CPU cooling: Thermalright Macho Rev. B
Motherboard: Asus Z170-A
Display: Dell U2515H 1440p
Storage: 1xSSD and 2x7200rpm HDD
Other stuff: DVD-reader, Speakers, Mouse, Keyboard
Could I damage some of the hardware if the PSU is not powerfull enough ?
mostly wenn the psu is not powerfull enough, especialy with a decent unit like the RM.
It should basicly just turn off the system
But since you are using a Skylake 6600K you should basicly be fine with a 550W psu.
Thank you very much for the fast help :D
You should be fine as long as you dont push the PSU as its passive. Good quality but still there is no fan
I thought there RM series had no fan. Guess im wrong.. OOps and I guess they got smart LOL
Yeah, you should be fine with a decent 550 watt power supply, which you have.
For reference: I've run a GTX 770 and HD 6950 at the same time, both at 100% load for three days straight, off a 650 watt power supply. Even with both cards (~200 watts each), I doubt my whole system pulled much more than 550 watts. The 980 Ti is rated at 250 watts, so I doubt your rig would really hit much more than 450 watts at load.
