Encoding On Server?

Hey guys!

So I have a server I have been playing around with (Dell PE 2950 Gen III), and usually to put movies on it (It is a NAS / Media streamer), I encode my DVDs on a different computer and transfer it on. But the new server (I bought it recently) has a DVD ROM. Is it possible to encode DVDs through this? I use Handbrake on the desktop. and the server is running FreeNAS.

Can you make a VM or whatever with access to the dvd drive? If so then most likely you can do the work on the server
