Elgato - Cam link on linux?

Anyone know how to use an elgato cam link with linux to record to a (media server friendly) file?

The cam link only gives you a webcam style video stream, you can encode it however you want.

Looks like I’ll try out VLC first… but need to setup plex in a vm first.

Try OBS and GUVCview. Or if that is an option try to automate a transcode after the recording is finished.
