Ehhh I can't decide to wait or upgrade

So i'm getting bored of my PC and I need a change.
At the moment I have a GTX 780 SC, i5 3570K, 16gb HyperX Genesis, and a Sabertooth z77.
I'm thinking about getting a i5 4690k and a GTX 980 FTW should I buy it now or wait till the next series of GTX cards roll out in 2016?

tl;dr - Wait for new GTX series or upgrade from 780 SC to 980 FTW?

My opinion on this has always been the same. Don't bother waiting that is a game you can play forever there will always be something bigger and better just over the horizon unless that is there is something specific that you are excited about and are waiting for. That's just my opinion.

Wait if your current set up works fine. Why spend money now if it can get you more later?

The upgrade from the 3570k to the 4690k is negligible in game and the upgrade from a 780 to a 980 is not worth it imo. Wait a few generations before looking to upgrade. If you want to spend some money, look to the other parts of your system like an ssd, better monitor, mouse, keyboard, headphones, etc.

Upgrade to the processor at least. Get a cooling unit for it too. I would wait on video, until Nvidia puts out something with more VRAM.

Upgrading the cpu is literally the last thing that a gaming rig like that needs. There is no reason to upgrade a 3570k. None.

I don't believe in i5s. i7 or bust!

I would only upgrade the GPU, if you are going to do anything at all. Both the CPU and motherboard, with that amount of RAM, should be great.

Yep. If you've got the budget right now, dont bother waiting. There will always be something new and flashy coming around the corner. You can upgrade now and enjoy the benefits immediately rather than playing the waiting game.

maybe just replace the 780 cause nvidia basically outdated your card with gameworks

Get an r9 290x or 390x. Nvidia f***ed you over with gameworks. Or get a new monitor. Maybe the 4k display Wendell was talking about.

That or make a custom water loop.

Waiting seems to be a never ending cycle... Just wait will next years cards come out > Just wait till those cards come down in price a bit > just wait a bit longer till the next line up of cards come out > ect. ect.

It's kind of easy to get stuck in the loop (that's what I have found in my experience)

If you have the cash and need and to upgrade because of X, Y and Z upgrade!

for the system you have now i would wait unless you must have the biggest and best.
in real world performance there isnt a whole lot of difference in performance on the cpu side as far as gaming is concerned... (its why i still rock an old i7 920) while the gpu will give a few extra fps.
but saying as the 780 will give 60 fps on most games at max settings @1080p its hardly worth the outlay for fps your not gonna see from the 980.
when i say not see, i mean you will see a bump in benchmarks but on a monitor with vsync enabled you would never see the extra.
