My Windozzzz... Hard drive has taken a dump and has now gone on to the afterlife!
Well it was a crapy 80 gig IDE hardrive anyway but now I have no way of playing UT3 or Combatarms!
(this happened yesterday BTW)
Does anybody know how to revive an old hardrive? (I kind of have some files on there that I need)
Also I/my dad is now in the market for a new HDD. Any suggestions?
But there is a good thing out of all this:
A. I know get a better faster HDD
B. I may be able to finally try out W7.
Ive heard that putting the hdd in a freezer for a while will make it operation again for a few minutes (maybe an hour?).
Here is a little article about it.

Well I'll probably try that I heard that Green did the same thing when his drive took a dump.
Also a little off topic: Ewww mac site. (But good article)
Oh snap! I didnt even see that...whoops.
Don't worry the article was good and helpful. Unlike other mac sites.
Yarp. Be sure to wrap it inside either a antistatic bag (wrap it TIGHT) or a ziplock bag. I did antistatic + normal plastic bag outside just to be sure : 3
Yeah I was thinking before that I should put it in an antistatic bag in the freezer.
Well on to the other dilemma: "A new Hard Drive" (more and more do I feel like I'm still in English I)
My dad is deciding between these two HDD:
Seagate Barracuda

and
Western Digital Caviar black

what's your sata I (1.5Gb/s), II (3Gb/s), III(6Gb/s)?
and name in order of highest priority price, speed, and space
Avoid seagate.
I used one for a year and it locked and I lost every bit of data. Freezer Recovery didn't work.
