EFF Seeks DMCA Exemption to Preserve Abandoned Games

The EFF and the Entertainment Software Alliance are going head-to-head
over the need to preserve functionality in abandoned games. The EFF
wants an exemption to the DMCA to keep games alive after its servers are
closed down, but the ESA and its allies the MPAA and RIAA are
vigorously opposing the digital rights group.

Well gentlemen and gentlewomen, what's your take on this?
The only way i can comment is with a facepalm to the ESA's arguments.

Edit: Also i couldn't decide whether to put this into policy & tech or video games, apologies if i made a mistake.

Yeah I already read that at Reddit, ESA practically says that old games should be disposed, because of business of course. They seem to forget that those games can be considered Art, but of course a bunch of old dinosaurs can't see that behind all those dollars.
Thankfully I have my collection of games very well preserved and they can't do shit about that.
I hope they don't mess with preservation web pages like Archive.org and such.
