eATX12v question

http://rog.asus.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/crosshair-v-formula-overview.jpg so here is a picture of my motherboard. The 8 pin connector at the very top left of the motherboard - what is that for? And the one next to the CPU fan as well. I have them both plugged in now (after a humendous amount of trouble to get them both plugged in...), I have yet to boot the computer because I am wary of doing so when it seems they may allow extra voltage to run for the system (possibly for overclocking?), if I have no intention of doing any major overclocking should I unplug them? As a side rant, that 8 pin is a BITCH to plug in. None of my 8 pin connectors would fit - I had to use my dual four pin connector to get it in. Thanks for the help if anyone responds =)

As an aside, I am terribly sorry for having two posts in the same forum closely followed by each other but this may help other people as well =)

Don't you have the motherboard manual, you can download it here: http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Crosshair%20V%20Formula&os=30

Well anyhow, Asus adds a second cpu power connector to their ROG series, but you do not have to use it.

I have the manual but it didn't explain what they were used for and if it had to be connected or not, says what the pin is called but thats about it. And alrighty, thanks =)
