EA Battlefront: What EA could have done better for the sequel

EA's Battlefront has been rather disappointing apart from the graphical aspect. And unfortunately EA will be making games of Star Wars in the next 10 years, and one of them would be EA Battlefront 2. We can only go to EA's forums and give feedback in hope of the them listening to the community. I feel these are the improvements can be made by EA in the sequel.

1) MORE CONTENT:
As compared to Battlefront 2, the new Battlefront is very lacking in content with all DLC combined. Other than the single player mode, the fan favourite Space Battle is not in the game. Also, no Clone Wars era stuffs is pretty disappointing too.

If EA still don't want to include single player, I would like that there are more maps and at least allow Clones vs Droid multiplayer.

2) GAMEPLAY and BALANCING:
This will be a long one, let me start off with this. THE PLAYERS WANT A BATTLEFIELD STAR WARS. Before you start telling me how you want the Battlefront 2 gameplay to be in the current Battlefront. PLEASE, take a close look at the game, is there anything not like Battlefield? Let's see, maps with ready vehicles and infantry class that can repair them, engineer with medic roles, capturing command posts, spawn in captured command posts. Those are things straight from Battlefield and people crying for the game not to be Battlefield like kinda affected it.

If EA wants to stick to the cards system, they'll need to balance it with long cool downs. For example, thermal detonators has 4 charges and will go into cool down for 60 seconds. Power ups system need to go by implementing really really long cool down.

One thing that I actually like is the Walker Assault mode, but it needs balancing. First, Imperials SHOULD NOT be able to control AT-AT and call in orbital strikes, also AT-AT should have really really low accuracy with slow fire rate. Rebels also should have better turrets that are more durable and fire rate to counter Imperial vehicles.

And finally spawn point issue really need to be addressed along with Boba Fett.

3) COMMUNICATION:
Being a modern game and there is no squad and voice chat for such objective based game sucks.

With that said, I feel there are things that should stay in the sequel.

1) GUNPLAY:
Some criticized that the gunplay of the game is too shallow and takes no skill, I agree with them. However, this game is meant for casual players just like the original Battlefront when I just came out, they are catered to those who just wanted to have fun.

I find the instant cool mechanics quite interesting and the blasters has a rather satisfying kick to me and you can feel the impact of those weapons.

2) MAP DESIGN:
The map design is really good, the terrain difference is there and there are much more vertical too. Unlike in Battlefront 2 which is much more open, this one offer much more cover.

3) HERO BALANCE:
Other than Boba Fett, I feel other heroes are pretty balanced. I find that heroes, especially Jedi in Battlefront 2 way too strong. Jedis are able to run much faster and jump around to avoid fire in Battlefront 2. Most of the Jedis are able to perform saber throw which can hit distant targets too, which makes them rather difficult to take down.

What do you guys think?

When I first heard about the project ages ago as a Battlefield player I thought great, the next Battlefield will be Star Wars themed. We then discover that it's Battlefront not Battlefield a game I had never played. So I go find out what Battlefront is all about and apart from the 3rd person view I thought it looks cool and might be something I could play. A fully fleshed out game, lots of complexity and gameplay depth. As the new Battlefront came closer my doubts started to surface. The Beta confirmed my fears. It was not aimed at gamers like me but to Star Wars fans that are casual gamers. We can commend DICE for a really nice looking and sounding game, but OMG it has the game play depth of a puddle. It's not much fun to play either, like putting your face into a meat grinder. Spawn, run forward, pew pew pew die from something you can't see or defend from, repeat. No team work, no tactics, no comms and no rentable server making it impossible for organised team play.

I know that this will be sacrilege to the players that loved Battlefront but it would be a much better game if it was Battlefield with a Star Wars theme. Turning the existing game into Battlefield would be much easier than attempting to make it more Battlefront like. Most of it could be done without adding many assets. Lock it to first person, squads of four or six players. Add a commo rose for communication. What you would have is a Battlefield lite and much better game play.

I Would like to add number 4 to your list.

Dedicated servers like those in battlefield 4.

I live in South Africa, the closest server is all the way in the EU, Give or take 200ms.

90% of the time the game is playable, the last 10% accounts to that split second encounters that you just die in.

By the time you see the enemy they have already killed you 20ms ago.

Sell the IP to a developer that gives a crap. Cause they will never do.

I'm not on the Battlefront hate train. That said, I do have many issues with the game.

-The casual nature of the game defines this, but explosives. They are far too rampant and lack any skill(hello homing shot and bowcaster). Thermal imploders that can kill through objects and have a 20 yard radius are insufferable. Especially when you look at things like Turning Point. The final cap point on that game mode devolves into explosive spam over and over again. Explosives need longer cooldowns or less damage/range. Having to hide for 30 seconds from a homing shot launched from across a huge map is dumb. Needs a range cap. Jet pack-bowcaster is stupid.

-Netcode. The Netcode is pretty dodgy, nothing new to DICE but something you'd figure they clued in on after the BF4 issues. Some of it seems to do with dodgy collision models on map set pieces, as getting shot through walls is fairly common.

-AT AT's and their absurd ability to kill you through every object in the game. Need I say more?

-Imperial flyers need a massive buff. Rebel X/A wings are OP. Rebels always win air superiority for the most part. Faster, better range and stronger weapons. Millennium Falcon can ram Slave 1 and destroy it without exploding itself.

Otherwise, I'm fine with the game as a whole. I've sunk about 40 hours into it and still enjoy it. There have been a few hackers along the way, but Meh. Had one yesterday who was sniping with a pulse cannon and going 60-0 on Turning Point. Says "I'm a Twitch streamer, why would I cheat?" To which his little buddy claimed he had some 80k followers, all Russian, on Twitch. I'm decent with the pulse cannon, but he was no-charge killing people every 3-4 seconds from extreme range and with no LoS on his targets. Killed the server real quick. Even his teammates were calling him out.

TL;DR Battlefront's issues are very fixable.

The AI is not as bad as the older Battlefronts but it is still kind of easy. Also for Battles, just let the kill count, how come we have to pick up a token?

And I wish that Battles was more like the Instant Action in the older Battlefronts. I must of logged like 200 hours playing Instant Action and Battles does not cut the same mustard. Also being open to modding would be cool. The Battlefront community has waited a long time for this game and the fact that is not even modifiable may have made a lot of users mad. Personally some of the mods on the older Battlefronts were because of graphics issues, but now with the DICE Engine that would not be a problem and we could have some really hard core mods out their.

Also on the leaked footage of the in house built but ultimately cut short Battlefront, ground to aerial combat was a thing. That would be something that would be really cool.

1) some galactic conquest (for single player)
2) more planets at least the most popular battlefield locations
3) space because last time i've checked its starwars not landwars.
4) player cap at 80
5) bots if under 80

Most of the Star Wars universe as far as storytelling and movies/TV shows is all land based. They travel to different planets, but outside of the Death Star, very little of the film/animated universe takes place in actual space. From that point, I couldn't care less. Air Supremacy in space is all I'd really care about. Tight corridor CQB for ground troops doesn't interest me in the least for the purpose of fighting in a space environment.

My other big gripe is spawn points being jacked up, and collision. I'm so sick of getting blocked by teammates when firing pulse cannons or when trying to pistol someone, only to have all my blasts blocked and die because the enemy can shoot through my teammate. Fuck the "realism" of player collision, it's terrible in practice. At least let me shoot through them too. I can pulse cannon through 2 enemies and kill both, but cannot pulse cannon through my teammate...because logic.
